Wow. Fewer reasons than ever to go to that tasting. So funny how Dettori gets through the door. And Librandi? Is there something the matter? Do they have a new 'enologist' or something? Thanks for posting. --Alice

No comment on the first part of your COMMENT.

As to the presence of Librandi (whose wines I like, BTW) and some others from more backward wine regions, you can ascribe it to a desire to be more balanced or just less beastly to the South. Or because there are hitherto unrecognized advertising revenues to be gained. Or...

More 3 bicchieri and more wineries will have to buy a table at $ 1500 plus the wines for each 3 bicchieri event around the world.
Gaja best winery???? Yes maybe that was true 10 years ago!!!!

I knew you'd comment -- and about those very things. (Gaja and the tables.)

That's $1500 per wine, right? So if you win 2 Tre Bicchieri awards, you cough up $3000 to participate, right? Excuse me, but that doesn't seem to be so much money even for a fairly small winery. The travel and entertainment costs would seem to be the real killer.

gee, this list doesn't look all that different from what was in NYC back in February. It's like seeing the 100 Best Wines of the Year in the Wine Spectator and the boring list of usual suspects. Not that a lot of these aren't great wines, but still .....

Terry Hughes

As they say, it's a relationship business.

Gabrio Tosti

is 1500 per table not per wine but you have to consider something like 10 events around the world so it is already $ 15000 plus the wine (at the end is over 100 bottles) travel and lodging expenses plus food.

Alfonso says to all, "great comments."

He is too much in shock to say anything further, considering he bet on Casanova di Neri being named the winery of the year. Confounded that a dark horse and long shot like Gaja would wine it. Is putting his property in the Marche back up for sale, and thinking about calling his Sicilian cousins in Torino to go pay a "call" on Cernilli & Co.

You old farts- GR is so GD corrupt.

Terry, Gabrio, FK - it's so cute how you have these imaginary conversations with Eric Asimov on his glob. So very poignant, like waiting by the phone, but he never calls.

Terry, try raw grapes. They work naturally for the dyspepsia you were concerned about;)

Thanks for all of the above, Be-atch.

Asimov did actually called me and emailed me few times, he also came couple of times in the store we never went out on a date but he is present :)

Whoa, Beatrice, what would Dante think to hear you bad-mouthing like this? i don't think anybody is genuflecting in Eric's direction.

Beatrice

in the words of Sig Rosetti:
Di quel che udire e che parlar vi piace, noi udiremo e parleremo a voi, mentre che 'l vento, come fa, ci tace

Of what it pleases thee to hear and speak,
That will we hear, and we will speak to you,
While silent is the wind, as it is now.
