Alice's book party

The joint was packed.  A lot of copies of the book were sold.  I bought two AT FULL RETAIL, one of which will go to a friend in Italy.  Herself signed them!  The wine flowed and flowed in teeny weeny glasses.  I couldn't reach the food.  Too many people to knock down, some of them very big.  Like Joe Dressner.

Alice was radiant and a little overwhelmed, I think.  People were clamoring for books to be autographed. Sometimes love brings too much pressure.

I asked her when the book was released.  "On Monday. Didn't my publisher send you a copy?"  She was dismayed when I, with a mild profanity aimed at said publisher, replied no.  Instead of reviewing it pre-publication, I'll be reading it on the plane today.

I did meet Neal, the Brooklyn guy who loves wine!  What a nice guy -- he even told me I was "ten times handsomer than the picture and look ten years younger."  Well, duh, of course I love him...but also partly because he suffered under the yoke of the NYC Dept. of Education.  Brother, I feel your pain.

Tomorrow, off to...guess where?  Ciaooooo.

Hey Terry have a great trip. How have you been? This book looks like fun. I can't wait to devour it. I love Ms. Fering's musings on her blog. I can only imagine what the pages might bring. It will be a Aplhabet City Wine Co. Coffee table book.

Africa?

Dear Mondaspore:

Yes, I am too big. But I am seeing both a cardiologist and a nutritionist to try to slim down.

I know it is a cheap shot to make fun of fat people, but maybe you could have shown a bit of sensitivity for how we feel. Should we hide from public view because we are always mocked and reviled? Isn't it possible for you to be a bit more supportive and understanding of the overweight? Not everyone can be svelte!

I'm in a profession where I constantly have to drink and eat. This makes my weight problems even that much more difficult to manage.

The least I can ask is for some support and understanding from other people in the wine trade.

I'm deeply disappointed that you feel it is now open season on the fat and that you have decided to launch a campaign of hate against the overweight from this site.

I expected more from you.

Joe

Joe, never expect more from me. As to seeing a nutritionist, I suspect you're quite well fed already. Baci from rainy Italy.

You just can stop myself....too much fun making fun of the fat!

I am Mr. Dressner's nutritionist and have only recently come to realize, in consulation with Dr. Anita Dranck an Endocrinologist, that Mr. Dressner suffers from acute glandular problems.

Where exactly do Dr. Dranck and Dr. Hoffenheim practice medicine? I looked through the Doctor directories of every major medical institution in New York City and there is no listing for either of these health practioners.

I hear canards quacking.
