Myth: sure, gas is expensive in Italy but they all have teeny, gas-sipping cars.
Fact: there are a lot of big SUVs, vans and high-powered sedans on the road. They pay plenty to fill the tank.
Myth: Italian men look sort of like Marcello Mastroianni.
Fact: not one does. On the other hand, fully 58 percent of men over 65 look like Lee Iacocca.
Myth: northern Italian food is much more refined than southern
Fact: magari! (:Hah!). Southern food is much more "refined", if by refinement you mean use of the best ingredients beguilingly prepared and served.
Myth: in the South they put red sauce on everything. They use butter and cream up north.
Fact: the common denominator is olive oil. Duh.
Myth: Italian drivers are crazy.
Fact: well, yes, that's true. But so are American drivers who love a six-speed stick. 180 km/hr in 4th? Yeah baby,
